Narcan 101: Preparation and Administration for DV Programs and Shelters

Description: This webinar was aimed at teaching domestic violence program and shelter staff how to administer Naloxone (Narcan) in the event of an overdose.  Other topics covered included a brief history of opioid usage in Hawai’i, how to assess the precautions that programs/shelters must take to responsibly safekeep Narcan, and an overview of drug- and opioid-related laws specific to Hawai’i.

Description: Part 2 of the HSCADV De-escalation Training Series focused on understanding the potential risk factors and warning signs of a variety of mental health problems in addition to being able to assess for risk of suicide or harm specifically.  This workshop reviewed key components of these topics and introduced participants to the Mental Health Action Plan tool.  (Although the training was 3 hours, the breakout rooms were not recorded.)

Teens Talk TDV

This virtual awareness event featured Hawaiʻi’s youth and young adults as they shared their perspectives on gender-based issues and highlighted actions they are taking to prevent relationship violence.  Moderated by Keliʻi Beyer of Domestic Violence Action Center’s Teen Alert Program (TAP808), guest panelists included Abigail Galman of TAP808, Christian Cristobal and Mairi Travis of Planned Parenthood Teen Council, and Kaian Torres of Love Pono.
