Co-Executive Director, Californians for Justice

9:45 am – 10:45 am – Plenary – Reimagining Us: Fostering Safe and Healthy Organizations

Yasi fights for Peace and Liberation! Her work experience primarily spans the fields of social justice, psychology, and education. In early 2023, Yasi joined Californians For Justice (CFJ) as a co-Executive Director. She works with CFJ’s decision-making teams to strategize, implement, and evaluate administrative, fund development, cultural, governance, and programmatic functioning, and she serves as a key advocate and organizer committed to building just schools. Prior to CFJ, Yasi held an Executive Director role at Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments (SAVE, Inc.) and guided SAVE’s transformation from the traditional “social service” model to a social justice agency rooted in intersectional feminism. Later, Yasi joined CompassPoint Nonprofit Services as a Project Director, specifically to facilitate liberatory and pro-Black values alignment within programmatic services. Independently, Yasi provides values-based coaching and consulting services to nonprofit and movement leaders. She is honored to have served as a Peace Corps Volunteer, on several boards, and on the Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women. One of Yasi’s proudest professional moments was being recognized by Sen. Bob Weikowski as 2016 Woman of the Year. Above all, Yasi is a mother of two children who inspire, enliven, and challenge her purpose each and every day!
