Celene Roberts began her social work career with Parents And Children Together (PACT) in 2001 as a Visitation Monitor with the Hoohui Visitation Center in Waianae. Although her intensions were to eventually work in the mental health field, her experiences working with families involved in the Child Welfare system, ignited a passion for working with families. While pursuing a Master’s in Social Work degree from the University of Hawaii, she worked full time for the Comprehensive Counseling and Support Services (CCSS) home visiting program. Upon completion of her MSW she was promoted to Family Counselor within the CCSS program. From 2006-2012, she returned to PACT as the Program Supervisor for the Hoohui Visitation Centers in Waipahu and Waianae. During this time, she also worked part-time as a Crisis Mobile Outreach Worker, where she was able to work in the mental health field, responding to suicide/homicide crisis calls through Access Line (Now Hawaii Cares). This experience was challenging as well as rewarding, allowing her to develop a strong skill set in the mental health field. Her passion for working with children, then led her to the Shelter Manager position at Hoomalu O Na Kamalii (receiving home for youth 4-18 years old) for two (2) years. In 2014, an opportunity to return to PACT (for a third time) presented itself, as the Program Director for the Family Peace and Shelter Services. Currently, she is the Program Director for PACT’s Shelter and Visitation Services where she has been for the last five (5) years. She is a mother and grandmother and cherishes her time with her family, especially when spent on the beaches along the North Shore of Oahu, where she has resided for over forty-six (46) years.
