Hawaiʻi State Coalition Against Domestic Violence

Domestic Violence Action Center

DVAC assists domestic violence survivors on Oʻahu through case management, legal services (TROs, divorces, paternity), courtroom accompaniment, and counseling.  Although DVAC can only provide direct advocacy and legal services to survivors living in the City and County of Honolulu, the Teen Alert Program (TAP) can provide education to middle- and high-school students on healthy relationships statewide.

Legal Aid Society of Hawaiʻi

Non-profit legal assistance in the following areas of law: family, housing, immigration, consumer, and public benefits.  Legal Aid does NOT assist in criminal and personal injury matters.

Family Promise of Hawai’i

O’ahu-based organization dedicated to helping families that are at-risk of becoming homeless obtain temporary shelter followed by long-term housing support.  Services include eviction prevention, emergency shelter, and rapid re-housing.

Hawaiʻi Immigrant Justice Center at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaiʻi

Immigration-specific division at the Legal Aid Society of Hawaiʻi that provides free legal services to eligible indigent immigrants living in Hawaiʻi.  Services include assistance with VAWA self-petitions, battered spouse waivers, T and U non-immigrant visas, and documentation renewals and replacements for green cards and naturalization certificates.

Hawaiʻi State Bar Association

Professional association of more than 8,000 lawyers and attorneys in the state of Hawaiʻi.  The HSBA provides legal referrals to the public with the following hotlines:

    • Only available on Wednesdays from 6:00pm-7:00pm HST, volunteer attorneys can provide free legal information to the public.

Catholic Charities Hawaiʻi

Social service organization with programs for senior citizens, homeless populations, foster families, and other vulnerable individuals requesting support.

Island of Hawaiʻi YMCA Family Visitation Center

Visitation center in East Hawaiʻi Island for families involved in domestic violence disputes where staff can supervise exchanges, court-ordered visits, and telephone calls.  For daily updates and operations changes, check out their Facebook.

PACT affiliate for Maui County with services for domestic violence prevention, batterer intervention, trafficking victim assistance, child abuse treatment, and behavioral health support.
